Notes - CASPER - Funeral services for Thomas Crawford Fawcett, 73, will be held Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery at 11 a.m.
A memorial will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Newcastle on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at 2 p.m.
He died Dec. 4, 2006, at Wyoming Medical Center.
He was born May 19, 1933, in Newcastle, to Alice M. (Statler) Fawcett and Crawford F. Fawcett, the oldest of 10 children.
He attended school in Newcastle until the eighth grade, worked on different ranches in the area and as an oilfield hand until he joined the Air Force in March 1952.
He married Rachel Linton in 1955 and later divorced. They had a son, Robert D. Fawcett.
During his 29-year career with the Air Force, he served in Greenland, Korea, Southeast Asia, France, England, Thailand and the United States. He served active duty in both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He retired from the Air Force on Sept. 1, 1972.
He then returned to Newcastle and began a second career as a truck driver.
On July 4, 1974, he married Carol Jean Wheeler in Newcastle and they had four children. They lived in Newcastle for many years before moving to Worland for a short time.
They moved to Casper in 1990 where he worked for Wyoming Express Trucking. In 1994, he purchased his own truck and continued to drive over the road until retiring in 1999.
He loved to hunt and fish, especially with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed telling stories of his life's adventures and liked to go for rides in the country with his family.
Survivors include his wife of Casper; his children, Robert Fawcett of Bonifax, Fla., Bill Fawcett and his companion, Bob Fawcett and his wife, Brian Fawcett and his wife, and Shannon Rezanina and her husband, all of Casper; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters, Doris Haley of Billings, Mont., Lois Hurley of Ponce de Leon, Fla., Lewis Fawcett of Basin, Jean Day of Newcastle, Joan Souder of Newcastle, Robert Fawcett of Worland, Jerry Fawcett of Newcastle, Dorothy Pitts of Manhattan, Mont., and Judy Hampton of Newcastle and many nieces and nephews.
