Notes - Merlin J. Smith, 70, of Florida, formerly of Midland, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, from congestive heart failure.
The son of the late John E. and Hazel B. (Emery) Smith was born on Jan. 14, 1936.
Merlin is survived by his two sons, Steve (Cherie) and Jeff (Stephanie) Smith, both of Midland; his grandchildren, Tiffany, Danielle, Cody, Mike, Matt and Zack; his sisters, Alice (Leo) Strait and Doraline (Don) Krotzer of Midland; and his brothers, Russell (Bea) Smith of Pavilion and Dale (Ardith) Smith of Midland. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his sisters, Sadie and Pauline; and his brothers, Maynard, Melvin and Darwin.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, 10 a.m. at the Floyd Church of God. Cremation has taken place. Pastor James Shanks will officiate. Members of Merlin's family will receive friends at the church Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
