Notes - Leon Edward Gunsolly, 79, of Sioux City died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Larkin Morningside Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alex Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.
Mr. Gunsolly was born Oct. 6, 1921, in River Sioux, Iowa, the son of Sammuel and Viola Mae (Smothers) Gunsolly. He graduated from high school in Moville, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
He came to Sioux City in 1945. He had worked as a tile setter and brick layer in the Sioux City area for many years. He married Martha Madonna Rowe. She died Feb. 21, 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Robert and his wife, Kathy of Sioux City, Dennis and his wife, Annette of Omaha, Neb., and Bruce of Sioux City; three sisters, Wanda Gunsolly, Fama Forney and Dorothy Todd; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Brent Gunsolly, and six brothers.
Pallbearers will be Robert Gunsolly, Dennis Gunsolly, Tramain Gunsolly, Milo Duque, Tatum Gunsolly and Cliff Tague.
