- NELSONVILLE - Guyla Millholland Hoyt, 78, of Shaker Heights, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, after battling pancreatic cancer.
She was born and raised in Nelsonville and married Paul Hoyt in 1951. They lived in Columbus while he attended Ohio State University, and she worked at Port Columbus Airport. They moved to the Cleveland area in 1966 and made their home in Shaker Heights. Guyla worked for 20 years at Case Western Reserve University, in the office of medical education, and retired in 1994. She was active in the Nelsonville High School Alumni Committee and also enjoyed cooking, gardening and travel.
Surviving are her three children, Jeff (Kathleen) Hoyt, Pam Hoyt and Jon (Christine) Hoyt; and seven grandchildren, Aubrey (Brandon) Harames of Ogden, Utah, Kyle, Scott and Jackson Hoyt of Eugene, Ore., Justin Hoyt of Columbus, and Reagan and Ryan Hoyt of Concord.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Paul. She also was preceded in death by her parents, Nelsonville residents Guy and Margaret Millholland, and her grandparents, Nelsonville residents Benjamin and Viola Hayden Lewis, and Plain City residents Augusta and William Millholland.
She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at the church today, at 1 p.m. Donations may be made to The Church of the Saviour, 2537 Lee Road, Cleveland, OH 44118; or Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44119-1330.
