  Paul F. Doehring of Merrill, Michigan - Passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Age 89. He was born October 10, 1922 in Merrill, Michigan to Charles and Agnes (Bellen) Doehring. After graduating from Merrill High School, he served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Ilagene (Jean) Hiser on February 8, 1945, and she survives him. He was a member of the Merrill Wesleyan Church serving on the church board locally and at the district level. He was also on the Merrill school board for many years, but his greatest desire was to serve Christ. He retired from Doehring Schultz Insurance Agency as owner in 1989. An avid hunter, Paul also enjoyed watching football and especially the Detroit Tigers. He spent countless hours in the stands cheering on his children and grandchildren when they played sports. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and a daughter; Dr. Larry Doehring, Denver, CO, David (Rebecca) Doehring, Merrill, MI, Linda (Rick) Harsh, Coleman, MI; eight grandchildren and their spouses; J (Teri) Doehring, Brighton, CO, Joy (Chris) Alvis, Hillsborough, NC, Faith (Brad) McLane, Coleman, MI, Jean (Ron) Nadeau, Boyne City, MI, Ryan (Crystal) Harsh, Mt. Pleasant, MI, Jill (James) Wilson, Mt. Pleasant, MI, Colin (Claris) Schmidt, South Bend, IN, Eric (Katie) Schmidt, Coleman, MI; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; three granddaughters and one grandson; Jennifer, Sarah, Brook and Paul Doehring; three brothers and four sisters; Cleo, Kenneth, Lawrence, Marian, Rhea, and Renus Doehring, and Marvel Novak; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Doehring. Friends may call at W. L. Case Funeral Chapel, 125 E. Saginaw St., Merrill, on Thursday, January 26 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the funeral service on Friday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the Merrill Wesleyan Church at 3765 N. Chapin Road in Merrill.
