Notes - George C. Friesen,66, of Rock Falls, died Sunday Evening [8 Sep.,1957] at CGH hosprital in Sterling, after an extended illness.
He was born 7 March 1891 in Fairbury, Nebraska. A Son of Isaac and Kathryn Clausen Friesen. He married Katie Friesen 14 March 1914 in Lincoln Nebraska.
They moved to the Sterling area in 1926 and farmed in this community until their retirement in 1950. He was a member of the reformed Mennonite Church in Sterling.
Surviving; his wife Katie, two daughters, Helen (John) Sedig, Blanche (Harry) Stauffer,one Son, Leslie G. Friesen; 12 grandchildren; two sisters Mrs. Hudson Hill, Mrs. Katherine Ratzlaff; five brothers; Frank, Abraham, John, Henry, and Jacob. and several Nieces and Nephews.
We was preceded in death by his parents, one Son Max, who died 30 Nov. 1946, one brother and one sister.
The body was removed to Melvin Funeral Home where family and friends may call after 7 pm. Tuesday. Funeral Services will be held at The Reformed Mennonite Church Thursday at 2:30pm. With Emmitt Bankert of Valparaiso, IN., officiating. Burial will take place in the adjoining Churchyard Cemetery wih Elmer Sedig officiating. Pallbearers were Harold, Elmer, Irvin Ratzlaff, Guy, Vernon Wiens and Marvin J. Frey.
