Phyllis N. Caler, 73, of Iola, Kansas, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.
Phyllis was born August 11, 1937, at Humboldt, Kansas, the daughter of John and Mona (Willhite) Durkin.
She grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1955.
On August 27, 1955, Phyllis married Dale J. Caler. He preceded her in death on August 1, 2003.
They made their home in Iola where she worked for Thompson Poultry and Gates Rubber Company until retiring.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Caler of Topeka, KS, and Ronald Caler of Iola, KS; one daughter, Janet Thompson & husband, Robert of Moran, KS; two brothers, Joe Durkin of Springfield, MO, and Raymond Durkin of Osage City, KS; two sisters, Mary Ann Mueller of Humboldt, KS, and Nancy Chandler of Chanute, KS; three grandchildren, Amanda Frame, Bryan Frame, and Courtney Frame; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Caler; and two brothers, Clyde Willhite and J.D. Durkin.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, KS. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas.
